Christmastide Is Here Again (By Leslie Tearney Pow) Poem by Andrew Wright

Christmastide Is Here Again (By Leslie Tearney Pow)

Everything with peace is faced,
Harmful deeds are all displaced,
Hatred with Love is replaced,
For Christmastide is here again.

Joyous carols fill the air,
All is merry everywhere,
Everyone forgets his care,
For Christmastide is here again.

East and West, South and North,
Peace, Goodwill and Love go forth,
From every heart dispelling wrath,
For Christmastide is here again.

Friend and enemy unite,
Join as one in pure delight,
Forgetting their great fight,
For Christmastide is here again.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Andrew Wright was a Prisoner of War, captured at Dunkirk. This poem is taken from a notebook he kept while in the POW camps. It is difficult to believe that the writers of all of these poems were men who had in the main left school at the age of 14. Where he attributes the poem to an individual I have included that attribution. Andrew Wright died in 1987. These poems were uploaded by his son.
