Come Haiti Poem by Walterrean Salley

Come Haiti

Rating: 4.3

Come, Haiti,
Rest beneath the oak.

Sit here upon this Rock
And rest a little while.

Take this canteen,
And drink of its water.

You must be tired and weary;
Eat a little victuals for strength.

Wash your feet
In the basin there.

Lie down in yonder tent
And rest upon the cot.
The journey ahead is long.

A beautiful tribute to a hurting people. Another nation that has endures so much and is in such need. Love the imagery and metaphor, which yields a powerful message. My vote is a 10+++
