Comparing States Of Mind Poem by Richard Marsden

Comparing States Of Mind

Over thinking

It’s begins simple, like you wish things were
But soon it changes
You can’t stop it
You’re not in control
Waiting for it to fade, it doesn’t
It grows and develops by itself
You think of the thought
And it goes on, for eternity.

Happiness

Often unknown, attempted to guess
It’s similar but wavering
You don’t want to stop it
You feel like you’re in control
Not wanting it to fade
Eventually it does
You consider its beginning
It can always be reached.

Peace

Sometimes random, sometimes planned
Still, unchanging
You don’t know when it will stop
You feel helpless but content
It gradually fades
Slowly, by itself, without help or care
You hope it will happen again
You know it will
