Competitive Divisions Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Competitive Divisions

Decided are the sides,
With names chosen to pick.
In the hopes to be victorious,
As a game called politics...
Heats up the tensions,
Between a diversity of constituents.

Like in any other sport,
Introduced to children.
From elementary school,
Until fed with visions...
To become high profiled and paid,
Celebrated athletes.

These competitive divisions,
Created to increase...
The sportsmanship that greed feeds.
Is a part of life,
In the United States...
Where conflicts everyday takes place.
To witness the sport of corruption.
And other competitive divisions.
Endorsed and supported,
By beliefs treating tricks and deception.

As if...
Humanity will ultimately be declared,
The winner at the end...
Of a self defeating competition.
Promoted to feed upon greed.
And self serving values.
Done.
With a marketing of capitalism.
Pretensions and impressions to make!
