Condemnation Poem by Edwina Reizer

Condemnation

It’s easy to castigate the sins of others
And to forget about our own.
It’s easy to blame the evil of brothers
And easier to condone
The little things we see everyday
And turn our faces away.
The greed and indifference we’ve come to accept
Is in front of us every day.

One small lie begets another
And on and on it goes.
And because we believe we are powerless
There’s no end to how it grows.
Shall the boot be allowed again
To stamp upon our face?
If we allow it to happen anywhere
It will occur in our birthplace.

Whether your eyes are blue or brown
Or as dark as the night
We all look at the same sins.
They’re all within our sight.
Better not to cast the first stone.
Leave it stay on the ground.
Take care of our own insensitivities
Or they will take us down.
