Conquered Life Poem by Donna Nimmo

Conquered Life

Lost in her world, pretending to understand his
Where everything is hugs and kindness
Was she dreaming, or was this life for real
Or just a moment of happiness she could steal

Her whole life nothing but loneliness and pain
Not in control of her life, where they would reign
Oh god please end this, she would cry out
Thought this was what life was all about

As a child till an adult, never known love
Tried so hard to have a life to be proud of
Kept reaching out, only finding the wrong man
Pushing her further down, was their plan

She learned to be strong, where all wanted her weak
Held her head high, when they didn't let her speak
The skeletons of pain, now deeply buried
In her heart so deep, is where they're carried

She's happy now, found her place in life
Met a great man and became his wife
Finally happy, very caring and kind
That pitiful life I write about used to be mine!
