Consenting Resentment Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Consenting Resentment

Losing a status,
Of an image to perceive...
Has a kept merit to keep it,
As a representation...
To be adored, worshipped.
Believed!

Although historically deceived.

Can be emotionally devastation.
Mentally traumatic.
And creating a grief with no relief.
Yet reality to finally face it.
Will cause the evaporating,
Of a needless resentment felt to feel...
Heal those self inflicted wounds.
Soon to be discovered,
Truth is not the enemy to hate.
Lies told to oneself to accept,
Has always been that threat!
One defends.
One protects.
Against reality.
And the presence of truth.
Avoided to ignore.
But finds a way to upset,
The regretting of it to embrace.

"I hate you! "

-Really?
Finally you are admitting,
What I've been waiting...
To hear you confess.
Tell me.
And be honest about it.
Is it me?
Yourself?
Or the truth?
Which one do you resent more?
Consenting your waste of time to give.-
