Copied! Poem by Salihu Mahe

Copied!

My teacher said

The very first; of a doctor's patient
A miner's gold
An archaeologist's find
A mother's child
Their treasured gold
My teacher said

Copied!

Lightening struck;
The growing trees
The sprouting leaves
The stepping stones
Shattered to ashes
All, except my heart!

My very first
My Eureka!
My first found jewel
My alpha poem
My mango tree
My teacher said

Copied!

Petite and bright
'It couldn't be
He wasn't taught'
Or so he thought
I guess he's right
I copied it

From my heart!

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
A poem in memory of my very first poem: "Mango Tree" that I wrote when I was about 12 years old, which my English teacher commented in my notebook "Where did you copy it from". "Mango Tree" is also uploaded here on poemhunter.com
