Corruption Poem by Lanre Samuel

Corruption

Hmm! Corruption
A key to a lazy man success,
A nation distroyer,
A weapon of oppression and depression,
An headache to a honest leader,
The enemy of development and of good governance.

I weep for the next generation!
When we have sold the liberty of our country to money and connection,
The right of the people have been exchange for promises of office,
It has eaten deep into the bones of our leaders,
It has been imputed into the youths that we call the leaders of tomorrow

We can win this war;
If our hearts and minds are put towards it,
Now is the time to fight against this disease.

An insightful piece of poetry, well articulated and nicely penned in good diction with conviction. Lovely depiction of embodiments of rot in societies where leader have institutionalized corruption as a way of life. Thanks for sharing Lanre.
