Count Down To The New Year,20 16 Poem by Dr John Celes

Count Down To The New Year,20 16

'Tis midnight of the year twenty fifteen;
The Old Year cruises to a grinding halt;
Most people globally awake, await
The birth of the New Year twenty sixteen.

And suddenly, the New Year ‘babe' is born!
It is still night but it looks akin morn;
The skies are lit by laser colored light;
The world looks stunned by magnificent sight.

And songs with music rent the air aloud;
The celebration makes citizens proud.
The young and old are happy with the scenes;
The blissfulness is seen in babes and teens.

The lovely feel is felt by everyone;
The midnight breaks with cheerfulness and fun;
Exchanged are savories and New Year cakes;
The roads are filled by speedsters, hands off brakes;
And many hug and kiss, say, ‘I love you! '
And smiles and laughter paints the faces, new.

All church bells ring as special Mass is heard;
The sheep bleat songs of praise to their shepherd;
They thank God for this wonderful moment;
The dawn brings on a morn like ornament.

Oh, what a way to start the New Year then!
God's blessings make the earth akin heaven;
Many resolve to spend a better life;
They plead to God for happiness sans strife.

The New Year twenty sixteen has begun!
Most happy youngsters walk and almost run;
Some wine has sent some souls to ecstasy;
Strange love has sent some into fantasy.

This morn is dark but lively all the way;
The hype is queer but felt throughout the day;
The lucky most have seen the New Year dawn!
A few could not, but newer babes are born.

‘A Happy and prosperous New Year 20 16! '
