Country Travelin’ Man Poem by David Harris

Country Travelin’ Man

Rating: 5.0

I’m a country travelin’ man
riding a boxcar whenever I can.
Summer you will find me
where the north winds blow
among the big forests
where the giant pine trees grow.
Winter I am way down south
among the oranges
in a California grove.
No one place is my home.
Nowhere is where I want to stay.
I don’t care if the wind
blows rough or fair
and my clothes are all threadbare.
‘Cause I’m a country travelin’ man
and everywhere is my home.

Authors note:
I discovered this little piece while sorting out some papers. I wrote it on a paper bag, which suggests I was out somewhere at the time and that would have been the only thing at hand to write it down.

You made my day! : -) Home is where the heart is & I have just come back from another of my 'homes' in the country.....

I enjoyed this carefree country poem. I'm a country girl through and through and country is one of my favorite subjects. I'm glad you discovered this poem so you could share it with us, David! Warm Wishes, Marilyn
