Cowgirls Don'T Cry Poem by Hailey Webber

Cowgirls Don'T Cry

On those days,
I just want to break down and cry,
Thinking life's not worth living,
So why even try,
When people push me around,
Like I'm some rag doll,
And try to damage my pride,
When they say hurtful things,
Just to see my cry.
I look back on something you once told me,
One day after many sorrowful tears.
Harsh but kind words,
That to this day I hold dear,
You looked me in the eyes,
With a serious face and told me,
'Cowgirl don't cry,
Hold your head real high,
You're better than this,
Reach for the sky,
You can be anything you want to be,
You just have to try,
So always follow your dreams,
Never give up,
Or back down,
Don't let their hurtful words get to you,
There just jealous,
Because they know,
That you're a better person then them,
They don't know you like I do,
They can't see your heart like I can,
I know you can do it,
You just have to try,
So wipe those tears,
Suck it up and turn a blind eye,
To what the other kids say,
Little cowgirl,
And keep your head held high.'
These words of wisdom,
You told me,
That day,
Have kept me going,
From day to day.
Yes the words and mocking are still there,
And they still hurt,
But now the pain doesn't consume me,
Like it used to do,
All because you said,
Those three little words,
'Cowgirl don't cry.'
