the wake
of cricket song...
stillness

Note: My poem was written in response to the following haiku by Leonard Cohen (1934-2016) :

Leonard Cohen's well-known "Summer Haiku" was written in North Hatley, in Quebec's Eastern Townships, and dedicated to his friends, Frank and Marian Scott.

silence
and a deeper silence
when the crickets
hesitate
