Crossing Over Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

Crossing Over

Rating: 5.0

Driving behind a huge smelly diesel truck
Traffic came to a stand still…now I’m stuck
Gates at a train crossing are in lock down
Blocking my route until I decided to go around

It was a dangerous choice, but I took a chance
Looking with a glance down the tracks I advanced
No time to think twice, as I weave within…
I hear a roar before being propelled into a spin

Into unconscious darkness my haste was detained
A shaft of light cleared my sight to the unexplained
I saw faces of departed family members and friends
I thought…this is where my life on earth ends

As I opened my eyes doctors and nurses gazed down
In a swirl of disorientation I began to slowly drown
Again images came into focus and voices revealed
I made it through the surgery…now it was time to heal
