Crystal Tears Poem by Barry Thompson

Crystal Tears

I dreamed fitfully throughout the darkened hours last night,
of our goodbyes earlier said, but her face never left my sight.

Crystal tears sparkled softly, and slid slowly down her face,
creating patterns upon the floor, of delicate fashioned lace.

They tumbled gracefully and into a million dew drops turned,
briefly danced fretfully consumed by an ocean sadly learned.

I gazed in bottomless liquid eyes, dark pools of deep despair,
awed by the supple silky softness, of her shining jet black hair.

Our parting was needed for her future, not for anger or any hate,
for destiny had chosen separate paths for each one to navigate.

So sweet were her gentle tears I was smitten with their scent,
that lingered strong for hours within, no matter where I went.

Tears giving a sincere reward for two friends who had to part,
a poignant sadness felt forever more within my grieving heart.
