Daddy? Poem by Tracey Hardie

Daddy?

Rating: 5.0

Daddy, can you hear my cries,
see the tears that stream
down my stained anguish face?

Daddy, can you feel the sorrow
of my heart that yearns for you,
tied in knots, hanging on a thread?

Daddy, would you ever know
that I love you regardless
of your absence in my life?

Daddy, where are you,
did you forget that I am your child,
and that I need you?

Daddy?
Daddy?

Hush mommy don’t cry,
I will sing you a lullaby,
you know, the one you sing to me
when I cry for my daddy.

The absence of either parent in a child's life can manifest despondent feelings, that they can take with them into adulthood...However, when there is a ne-plus-ultra type of bond 'tween the child & their other parent...then, all that is positive & good in life becomes more than just a possibility...but in most cases, a reality...Your poem here very gently& nebulously intimates such a scenario....and i like the tone you set from the opening line to its moving conclusion.Stellar penning, young lady! ~ FjcR ~
