Pink Pixie (April 1973 / England)
Daggers
They are like daggers through my heart, those words that you throw.
So painful and cruel, yet you don't seem to know.
Will you ever see the damage you so easily do,
The hell that your thoughtless words constantly drag me through.
I fight back the tears refusing to let even one more fall,
Another layer now added to this ever growing wall.
The distance between us, it continues to grow.
The crushing emotional toll now beginning to show.
What happened to the love that we once shared?
When each word that you spoke showed that you cared.
Why can't I leave, just run far away?
An unbearable pain, yet I continue to stay.
Are the words that you throw from somewhere deep inside?
Born of a fear or hate you are struggling to hide?
Soon the wall will be built so tall and so wide,
Separating us forever, each alone on one side.
My armor is weak, my defenses almost none.
As my broken heart lies bleeding, will you finally see what you have done.
