Dance With Me Poem by Aileen Figueroa

Dance With Me

Rating: 4.6

Come and dance with me…
I want to dance all over the world
I want to sneak out the back door
and meet up with you.

Persuade you to follow me out into the universe.
We could make it our ballroom.
We could do the tango, en elegant waltz.
We could secretly slide overfrom star to star.

Engage in an everlasting ballet.
Enjoy the sight of each other eyes.
Holding each other tight.
Wishing and hoping
for an eternal night.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
It was girls night out. I went out with some friends to the City, Manhattan. In a club, I witness a man and a woman dancing all night. They were having fun. To me their bodies told a beautiful story or a secret that only they knew.

COME AND DANCE WITH ME is a delightful invitation to share joy with another. But your poem immediately opens up to the cosmic dance floor and the dancers are taken far away from their ordinary lives to a place where night and perfect accord and tireless dance prevails. I was there with them for every measure, taken out of myself into this perfect world you created.
