Dangling On The Edge Poem by Olumide Bisiriyu

Dangling On The Edge

She got me dangling on the edge
No one to rescue me
I’m left all alone
If the birds of the air
Can just fly by
and take over my feeble hands
I will be the most grateful
Of all the prodigal sons
That roams the face of the earth

It was as if my journey was flawless
The race I run
Heading towards the finish line
The cheer leaders on my right
And the mockers on my left
But I pay homage to non
As I focused on my heavenly goal
Then from nowhere in the crowed
Came this missile of sin
Pushing off my organized world
This missile hit so hard
That I felt I may not make it
Balance lost, my vision stained
But how could I just give up like that?
I want to strive to finish
Yet I know I can’t do it on my own

She got me dangling on the edge
When she pushed me off the cliff
It doesn’t seem to be ordinary race anymore
It now seems to be a spiritual warfare
My defense is gone
But my hope is not lost
This place could have been noisy
But it is quiet
So there is no need to shout for help
When no one is going to hear

Rather than suck in my Golgotha
I will go to my source for redemption
Help! I’ve fallen and I can’t get up!
Father may feel He had shown me the signs
But I know He had another plan
And as long as I don’t like what I am doing here
I sense He is going t o get me out’a here

When my friends and family are gone
When all the hope I have seemed lost
I will hold the rope so tight
When my strength is gone
When my will says I’m no longer willing
With the last blood in my vein, I will not give up

Lady sin could have sentenced me to death
But thank God for lady grace
She got me off the cliff
And set me in my resting place
No wonder they say it’s not by power
After all, when I relied on my strength
It failed me woefully
Now, listen, if I have to sing this poem again
I will confess so all may hear
That this is the story of you and me
For by strength shall no man prevail
But by grace we’ll make it to heaven

She got me dangling on the edge
Where I had to choose
Either to live or to die
But I chose to live
Cause the dead cannot have redemption
