Darling Poem by Victoria Annette Bailey

Darling

An enigmatic voice slides
Beneath the bedroom door,
A snake in solace and spirits
Passing treason as the law.
Her ring remains concealed
Darling, don’t you know?
They always said the walls have ears
Stay a victim, lower your tone.
The moth to kiss your candles
Hears Judas in your words,
It shouldn’t be perplexed by this
The deceitful sparrow bird.
Darling, check outside that lock of yours
You left the key there as a seal,
He’s waiting in the hall for you
Whispering rage on how you feel.
Darling, the chime that haunts you,
As you betray your wedding vow,
Is shared by his golden band
He’s laughing at you now.
Your virgin heart is bleeding
I hate to say I told you so
Darling, what you said was two times love
Was cunningly disguised woe.
