Daughters Poem by Rocky Ess

Daughters

The smell of your hair after
playing in the park.

The way we giggle before bed,
talking in the dark.

The lovely way you laugh and sing.

You have grown into this beautiful
thing - so beautiful, like a butterfly's wing;
Like a lush flower,
like a mountain view,
the world looks fresh and clean and new.

And when you want to leave your home,
to see the world,
to learn and roam,
to find things that set your heart on fire,
the only thing that I desire,
is to tell you how much I love you so,
and the path back to me you will
always know.
