*dawning*mother*gaia* Poem by Blessing Msiza

*dawning*mother*gaia*

I walked slowly
As my feet wriggled
In the sand
Taking in every sound
Mother Gaia had to offer
The smell
Of the ocean
As it roared
With mightiness to devour
The newness
Of the breaking day
Waving goodbye
To the dawning silent night
I paused after
Each step
To imprint
Every new sensation
That I had never experienced
To remind myself
Of the preciousness
Of this world
This earth that
We live upon
As small animals
Scurried away from my feet
I finally accepted
The magnificence
We've been graced with
To always cherish
And value it
Each rising say
