Dear Father Poem by Mwayi Grace Makwinja

Dear Father

Rating: 5.0

I never had the chance to tell you what confusion your departure unleashed…

Blurred pyramids of vacating flesh
Sea waves in my ear
Straight from my soul
Cold breezes only I can feel

Granted numbness dissolves
After the smoke fades,
The empty bottled euphoria finally departs
And the inducing, very last our presence crossed,
Image floods in…

The darkness, freshly grounded
Six feet, seemingly my twelve…
Below
Silently vanished, whirling atmosphere
Music had never seemed so painful to ears

Then, reality
Music had never been with me that mournful dawn
To be exact, my interpretation was denial
Anguish,
If only… Merely had I,
Could have woken from my sweet slumber of you
And said, forget
SCREAMED…
Daddy heaven can wait.
