Sleepless Poem by Mwayi Grace Makwinja

Sleepless

Rating: 5.0

only words will give me solace
From the engine breathing street
To the dimmed lighting of the atmosphere
And my 'slip' into the deep

You see 'sleep' never let me fall this hard
So even whilst my eyes wake
My being remains in fantasy
Reaching for the unknown, ignorance

If my eyes should close, I fear
My being will wither in an abyss of doubt
No good will come of the survival

Because even in my state of Hypnagogia
I have captivated the world
And with me, fall into deception
