Dear Janine Poem by Juilee Kamble

Dear Janine

Dear Janine,
I know it hurt
When he tore through your flesh
And ate up your soul.
I know what you wanted,
I know why you said you liked darkness.
I know your heart hurt with every thrust
You covered your bosom in silk sheets
It wasn't steel.
He was so strong
Your attempts, futile.
What made you believe you could fight him?
I know he broke the mirror in your room.
I know you cut your cheek on the glass
You slept in the abyss.
Oh, Janine
Why did you go with him?
I know how
He rips you to shreds
While making you feel he's putting you together.
I know he spits on you
To claim your body.
I know how
He twists your arms
And says he loves you to dance with you.
I know how
He makes you feel alive
While he tightens the noose around your neck.
I know.
