Death; By Suicide Poem by Breanna Bates

cause of death; suicide
it read on her toe tag.
her body is pale, and cold,
i can tell she hated her life,
even under the veil of her body bag.
her scars,
more relevant than ever before,
to try to kill the thing,
buried in her core.
the pain in her eyes that no one could see,
i finally realized
that she was me.
and as i stood there staring at my former life,
i wish once more i had that knife.
my feelings never will disappear,
but perhaps no longer,
will i live in fear.
