Death Shall Claim No Victory Poem by Colin Ian Jeffery

Death Shall Claim No Victory

Death shall claim no victory

Death shall claim no victory humbling my soul
For I will rage and roar against the cold dark grave
Defying the final coffin shrouding embrace,
Knowing my soul will not be trapped, entombed
With body rotting within the earth, feast for maggots
Grave marked with headstone in field of repose.
Death shall never break my faith in God's love
Nor tremble my soul with fear and weep the eyes
For Jesus Christ promised those who believe in him
Shall never die with soul passing beyond the grave
Entering through death the gates of Heaven,
Where repentant sinners mingle with angels.
Christ's love sets souls free from death's curse,
With all bathed eternally within God's dazzling light.
