Subtle footsteps of a cold and insensate guest,
I heard it in my chest
Like a rustling noise of dry leaves in autumn
Treading whispers murmured in my auricles like a phantom
My heart shivered like a trembling leaf
I sensed no more, but unstated grief
Alas, time has ripened to leave flesh
But longing for earthly desires were still fresh
Memories flowed through mind at lightning speed
I was just a witness to all my bounteous and boisterous deed
Life for me has come to a standstill,
Death was standing beside me, expressing its will
Alas, the final moments have arrived,
Death will part me from my friends and kin, so I cried
Foolish I was, madly obsessed for worldly pleasure,
Never sought for my inner treasure
I tittered and convulsed on my pity-state,
Never thought this would be my fate,
I repented for the whims and fancies of my past,
But the mystery of death followed me till last
All of a sudden, I had an abrupt revelation,
I stood witness to my body kept for incineration
Some were mewling and others screaming on my demise,
For me this divine revelation was the ultimate surprise
Now I am just a witness to all this existence
I know that Life is the ultimate truth and the essence,
Death is nothing but a mere fiction,
But lesser mortals are worldly minded and have addiction
This moment I am rejoicing ecstatically with this universe,
I am present here and now in this verse
I wish all who reads this verse may feel my presence
May the divine bless all, to see their essence!
