Kicked & beaten around,
Heartbroken & bruised to the ground.

Hopes so high then shot down,
So hard to turn this into
something more than a frown.

Holding a degree with so much knowledge,
And now for what....
To be back in college.

Wondering what all this fighting is for.
Never being accepted for what I want most in the world.

Roadtrips from city to city and state to state,
Empty tanks of gas but trying to find a will and a way.

Deny letters rolling in,
already knowing the words that I will read.
Is there a chance for me to even believe?

Waking and facing another ordinary day,
Wanting a change to point to a new way.
