Defying Deceptions Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Defying Deceptions

One lie known to tell it told,
Has a way to escalate...
With an ease to disease,
Long established families.
Friendships, neighborhoods.
And a hatred shared,
To put an end to any progress...
Wished and wanted to devastate,
Those steps made to eliminate and erase.

And based upon just one lie,
Perceived innocently told to tell.
Heard and repeated said to children,
Telling this lie to do it well.
Growing up to express a disrespect,
For truth never for them to get.
From those who rush,
To their local churches professing love.
Declaring themselves 'Christians'.

'Christians'.
Christians united.
Defying deceptions they began to start.

And...
Claiming to blame their evil misdeeds,
They had been taught to teach.
Discrediting the doing to demons.

Yet...
Wanting it to be believed,
They were absent...
When these lessons were learned.

Although...
Had been passed on,
Faithfully!
