Despair In Broken Rhyme Poem by Uriah Hamilton

Despair In Broken Rhyme

Rating: 5.0

Not every choice is practical,
Not every kiss is romantic,
Not every marriage is endearing
Nor enduring.

Sometimes you exit a relationship
As easy as departing a room,
Sometimes you spend a lifetime
Wondering if you left too soon.

I've sat on a sofa
And gazed at a woman's face
Without any words to explain
That my feelings were no longer the same.

Sex can prolong a visit
That should have been kept brief,
Sometimes being a man
Makes you feel like thief.

A flower or compliment
Can penetrate deeper than a knife;
A flirtatious moment
Can ruin a life.

I've been timid with true love
And bold for momentary pleasure
There's really nothing I've kept
That my soul can value or treasure.
