Devi Maha Lakshmi Poem by Geeta Radhakrishna Menon

Devi Maha Lakshmi

Rating: 5.0

Lakshmi Devi- Narayana's beloved consort -
Lovely'Sree' - the auspicious one!
Lady luck seated joyfully on a throne
Lotus - with sixteen crimson red petals!
Lotus buds tender held by slender fingers,
Languishing on a virgin petal bed
Lakshmi - the temptress awakening desire,
Lakshmi - the glorious Woman!

Maha Lakshmi -Goddess of wealth!
Magnificent Devi!
Most attractive and alluring,
Mind blowing in flaming red!
Maha Devi - flanked by
Myriad satin petals
Muslin cushion of lotus blooms
Magical fingers with lotus buds!

Unique profusion of pink lotuses
Untouched by mud
Unpolluted by dirt
Undampened by the messy puddle
Unperturbed by the stormy waters,
Unswayed by the forceful wind,
Uncircled by the weedy tares,
Undaunted by the slimy creatures!

O Maha Lakshmi! As you bestow me with wealth,
Let me not desire for more and more,
To become greedy and avaricious!
Let me learn moderation,
Let me live with contentment!
i need to enjoy only the innate impulses of the soul
To be just what I am,
And experience the bliss and peace of the spirit!

Let me be not dazzled by glittering objects
And bang my head against a golden wall,
You bestow wealth lavishly in one stroke
But you can dissipate them too, in the next stroke,
O Devi! Let me not be lured by the wealth that you shower
Or be attracted to the power you grant!
Let me attach only to you, Devi!
Let me belong to you only!

Let me meditate only on the oneness -
Of you, me and the world!
I strive to comprehend the unity of your creation!
Lest I should forget, may I be constantly
Reminded of it! O Mother of this world!
Let me fully wipe out the notion of separateness!
Bless me to surrender to you totally,
To smoothly merge and dissolve into your divine being!

Let me meditate only on the Oneness
Of you, me and the world!
I strive to comprehend the unity of your creation!
Lest I should forget, may I be constantly
Reminded of it! O Mother of this world!
Let me fully wipe out the notion of separateness!
Bless me to surrender to you totally,
To smoothly merge and dissolve into your divine being!
