Devoted To Looks And Not Substance Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Devoted To Looks And Not Substance

It has been said,
Dressing up incompetence...
Left to go unaddressed.
Will ultimately leave,
What appears to be impressive...
A pain to feel.
Needing no one to explain,
From where it comes to be done.

Although the signs ignored,
From the beginning to warn...
Were dismissed because of image given.
Now that image to give,
Has created agony for many.
Devoted to looks and not substance.
And that substance today,
To want and wish has been trashed. Gone!
