Different Color Poem by Grant Wood

Different Color

Everywhere I look, there is a different color
From different skin, everyone is different form one another
I go to school, and see hate in my eye
From calling names to playing games, I see people cry
Everywhere I look, there is a different color

Different clothes, different brands, I don't see why
People hate one another, and don't have a reason why
They think it is cool, and they know it's wrong
To hate someone, but it only makes them more strong
Everywhere I look, there is a different color

In this world, there are many different kinds of things
And most of us think that we are kings
We think that were perfect, but were really not
We're different in every way, but most of us think not
In this crazy world, we are influenced by others
But somewhere I will look, and see someone's true colors

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I wrote this poem to show that in this world, people are afraid to look different, or stand out. This poem shows that somewhere, there is a person that shows their true colors (they stand out) . This poem represents diversity.
