Dignifying Indignities Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Dignifying Indignities

Dignifying indignities.
Done to magnify dysfunctions.
And this abnormality to declare it,
Against known freedoms.
People for centuries believe,
They are owed this to get,
As entitlements to receive.
Yet nowhere to appear to be documented.
Amended as an addendum.
Or a constitutional right.
Legislated by law.

Or...
Had been mentioned at all,
By the Wizard Of Oz.
To overhear whispered,
In the ears of munchkins...
Skipping along Yellow Brick Road.
From Sunrise until that Sun sets.

This,
Is arguably...
A priority citizens of all ethnic races,
Should immediately...
Drop everything they are doing.
To concern themselves,
About changes made affecting their lives.
They either ignore or could care less.
Or realize the significance,
Taking place behind their happy faces.
Dancing to the rhythm.
While everyone is focused upon,
Doing the 'Electric Slide'.
Without one foot seen out of place.
In an effort to objectify their unity!
