Dirt Poem by Vision Ghost

Dirt

A stolen sense of integrity
Burnt into a conscious thought
From the pain the past brought
Sunken eyes reflect the agony

Sullen step, taken from himself
So happy ‘til it went so wrong
And fell out of love for so long
Leaving the images on a shelf

And every time he looks at his hands he finds more of the same
And every face he contemplates seeks yet another within a game
Of trying to recognise what’s left of himself behind all the hurt
Making the journey upon this love lined road that turned to dirt

Everyday a voice is heard
The vanished and untouchable
Singing their song from his soul
Loneliness one should not disturb

As the wind blows drying tears
That fell from a heart so torn
Faithless and forever forlorn
A rider no longer with fears

And every time he looks at his hands he finds more of the same
And every face he contemplates seeks yet another within a game
Of trying to recognise what’s left of himself behind all the hurt
Making the journey upon this love lined road that turned to dirt

And as the sun falls upon completion of yet another day
There is nothing more to be said for what he can’t say
Drifting forever on to reflect the sense he doesn’t belong
From city to city from town to town no matter for how long

Of trying to recognise what’s left of himself behind all the hurt
Making the journey upon this love lined road that turned to dirt
