Discrimination Poem by ER Bron Chiong, RSW

Discrimination

People of colors--
yell0w, brown, red, black and white
Stand up for what is right
Discrimination!
Gender inequality—
male, female and others
Where are you from
Discrimination!
Religious persecutions—
Christians, Muslims, Buddhists and Hindus
Uphold the freedom of choice
Discrimination!
Ethnic cleansing—
among the tribal people of the world
Then, we are the minority here
Discrimination!
Rich and the poor or
the haves and the have-nots—
first, second and the third worlds
Who made this distinction
Discrimination!
White collar jobs and the skilled workers
University trained graduates and the local colleges
the high paying managers and the low salaried rank-and-file
Demand equal trainings and opportunities for all
Discrimination!
Accent prejudices—
native speakers and second language learners
from Asia, Africa and beyond
So is your diction better than ours
Discrimination!
Political affiliations and the like—
the leftists, the rightists and the centrists
Stop complaining and give what is due
Discrimination!
Cultural superiority—
the best comes from the West
Then, are we to admit that you're right
Discrimination, Discrimination, Discrimination!
Is everywhere—east, west, south and north
here and there, at home or elsewhere
a little bit of prejudice is worldwide in scope
accent, beliefs, cultures, orientations, positions and status
Discrimination, Discrimination, Discrimination!
This world is full of discrimination!
Persons with disability and the sick, the elderly and the weak, the special kids--all are victims of discrimination!
Arrogance, aggression and war are the typical results
But wait, can you listen to what we have to say—
where is acceptance, dignity, equality, respect and value
of a pers0n's worth as a being created in His image
ever wonder, what comes next
