Dismissed Prayers Poem by Christine K. Trease

Dismissed Prayers

My prayer dismissed with such aplomb,
my interrupted speaking,
fell on deaf ears that heard me not;
what was the Lord God thinking?

I could not know my prayer ignored
spared me from misfortune.
I, full of rancorous spite and doubt,
asked what the Almighty imagined.

'Twas when I saw the future unfold
like a blanket of virgin snow,
I thanked my God for unanswered prayers
that saved me from things unknown.

Great poem, Christine... seemingly Heaven sent. A wonderful concept and brilliantly composed. Well done! ! Brian
