Disorder In Old Age Poem by Shalom Freedman

Disorder In Old Age

Disorder in old age
The waste of time in so much pettiness-
And the endless time
There is to waste -
How much once taken for granted
Now requires concentrated effort-
Reminders in place of memory-
And so much sadness
From the illnesses and disappearance of contemporaries
And one's own health surprises-
Disorder in old age
And worry about the way one will die
Sadness and more sadness
Loss and more loss
Loneliness
Sorrow
Disorder in old age.
