Distant Shore Poem by Ryan Tyer

Distant Shore

My reality I had thought
Was true and forever real
Has been stripped away
And allowed you my heart to steal
I always thought people were good
And ultimately do the right thing
But you shattered that idea
Into the light, darkness you did bring
Instead of the sunshine
Coming after the rain
All I feel is the agony
Despare and intense pain
Unidentifiable is my heart
It sits in a thousand pieces
I wont be myself
Until the pain ceases
Will love be possible
or will I be alone forever
I never had to ask that question
When we were together
I search for reasons
But my minds eye is blind
Like a thick ocean fog
It hides the tides of reason from my mind
So as I sail through the abyss
An unknown shore lies before me
So I pray to god to protect my soul
And the love for you inside me
