Many lamps, many homes
all lighted in the darkness of night;
time for prayers, pujas, rituals
many hearts together assemble
seeking joy, prosperity, good health
for another year, once again;
the younger the more merrier
the old happier than before
as they take pride in unity, in worship
as Goddess Laxmi they invoke
to shower on them endless blessings;
yet in faith and hope is life's grace
in love and trust is men's strength
as festivals usher religious duties
so does Diwali offer a time for
unity, love, prayer, joy, lights
which reflects in those fireworks
that shine brightly in the night skies
reminding it is time to be seek and give
it is time to celebrate and rejoice
as together walks divinity and humanity
Diwali O' Diwali let the world look lighted up
with lanterns in every house glowing bright
till those hearts fill up with unique happiness
which only accelerates when worship, friendship,
prayers, lamps and fireworks sparkle the festivity
to culminate harmony in unity and divinity.
