Do To Do Due Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Do To Do Due

Do what you do to do due.
To prove,
An excellence at your best when at it.
Prove you are not blowing gas,
From a past to embellish...
An overstated creation,
Of nonexistent facts no one can track.
Prove your abilities.
Not to talk about them.
But produced to believe.

Many claim what they do,
While chewing on corn and watching TV.
And laying down on a sofa.
Fantasizing a life,
To have performed heroic deeds.
And those who listen,
Include their delusions.
From a youth they spent,
Running away from responsibilities.
But today portray themselves,
As being disciplined and motivated.
Although can not explain,
Where that initiative went.
And you know what you hear,
Neither is honest nor makes any sense.
Since your youth when you knew such folks,
They were the ones...
Who mocked and demeaned.
Those who were ambitious.
And didn't sit around daydreaming on wishes.

Do what you do,
To have always done to prove...
You are capable and able.
To produce and not excuse.
Time to allow it pass without making attempts,
To hide behind lies or deny time you wasted.
Do what you do to do due,
Shown to naysayers...
Who believe you to be a fool.
With a producing of evidence.
Cemented to document.
Then await for them,
To prove to you...
They are not the fools,
You would never say openly...
Proof is not needed for what you see.
