Doomwatch Poem by Tobbie WhiteBird Crowe

Doomwatch

I hear the Dragon's song;
A song so old it's meanings lost in time.
I hear it's lonesome, lonely cry.
I feel the pain and hurt it's held inside.
And as it sits upon it's solitary hill,
Alone and only, unable even now to die,
I would if I could, end it's pain and mine.

But I must in silence wait;
As apart it cries aloud it's mournful song,
That through the night becomes also mine.
Helpless in my inadequacy, as he,
I watch the doom of us draw ever neigh.
Understanding, but helpless in the ever flowing time
That with the dawn must find we still live on.

I hear the Dragon's song;
Ever long and sad it's haunting melody
Telling me I never will be free,
For I like him, must walk this world alone.
Empty and unable now to even cry,
A prisoner to time, life, pain; I'd welcome death
But as he, that is also lost to me.

But still, the years will pass by
As others go before and live and die.
Untouched, he sings till time shall end,
The agony of living forced upon him.
As I in unseen bondage also wait
For that unfound, unfelt, unseen, untouched
For peace and freedom's gift of quiet darkness.
