Draw Near To God Poem by Michael P. Johnson

Draw Near To God

For God the world shows little fear
Her children wander blind
But when death’s veil draws finally near
They’ll seek to change their mind

“Too late, too late” could be the cry
“Life’s raiment’s firmly torn”
Within hell’s flame they’ll seek to die
But death will see no dawn

Yet Jesus’ arms are Heaven’s doors
Held wide to one and all
But most content in Satan’s claws
Continue still to fall

Draw near to life through Christ God’s Son
Come as you are right now!
Receive God’s strength, life’s race to run
When at His feet you bow

Nearness to God brings death to shame
His love brings joy and peace
Close, as the mention of His name
Our lives will fail to cease

Accept God’s Lamb as Lord and King
Believe with heart and soul
Who then in truth love’s song can sing
He’ll save and make them whole

God’s sifting out His chosen few
He’s pruning Jesus’ vine
Severing branches void of Dew
Who’d ruin Salivation’s wine

Who’s heart is not The Father’s will
Who’s deeds are Satan’s fruit
The Wind of truth will blow until
They’re severed from “The Root”…
