Dream Teases Penury Poem by Rex-mayor Ubini

Dream Teases Penury

Sunken eyes lock lids on a bed of plank.
Sunken jaw hides bedbugs with his hollow flank.
Penury snores but a ferrari’s zoom
Awakens on a bed of roses where frown smiles,
Where cry laughs out very loud
Penury lives a la-dolce-vita.
But dream teases.

Please, don’t ever touch me when I’m asleep
Don’t even wake me to eat a noseless meal
A tongueless meal of grudge no crayfish.
When I’m asleep, please don’t even speak!
If you must whisper many a thing,
let silence be louder than your lips.
If dreams would repent and stop the teases.
I’ll pass out before I wake,
’cause there is a world where I’m rich.
But dream teases!
