Dreams Poem by Jessica Layman

Dreams

To never have to see that hollow look in your eyes
Never again feel the chill of your skin
To never again see the blue tint in a loved one's lips
this is where my dream will begin

To never have to say good bye
and watch you wither away
to never again shed a tear
for loved ones gone astray

My dream is as simple as can be
I don't wish to out-live my family
I wish to be there waiting when their time is done
not to have them waiting for me

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I wrote this poem shortly after my little sister passed away. It really drove home the felling of I don't want to live longer than my family and watch all of them die.
