Dreams, Related

Rating: 5.0

Dreams, related,
may be the biggest bore
of all.
But the one I had
this morning,
of a fire
raging
in a church
igniting
the roof
of the shocked
Santa Fe artist
next door,
was an adventure
while it lasted.
Then rang
my cell
breaking me
into
a waking life
I wouldn't wish
on anyone.
Thank heavens
for my nightmares.
Without them
my daymares
would be
unbearable.

[Dreams, no matter how terrifying, how horrifying, are our escape from the perpetual prison of the self. We awake to find the same walls, the same bars, we faced when we first dropped off to sleep.]
