Duality Poem by Eric Paeplow

Duality

There's an Angel inside me
Just as good as good can be
There's a Devil inside me
As wicked as you'll ever want to see

The question I have for you
And the answer that you seek
Is which one will you meet
The day that you meet me

The Angel you will meet most days
But this I'll have to tell
Push the wrong button
And I'll send you straight to hell

Most never see it coming
Most never think I would
Switch from one to the other
Quite as easily as I could

But in this fate I am not alone
Inside you reside both as well
The Angel, pure and holy
And the Devil, straight from hell

This duality of mind
A sentence that we each must bear?
Or instead is it what we need
To survive in a world unfair

I do not believe in good and evil
Nor do I right and wrong
I believe we each only do
What it takes to get along

Chaos, love, passion and pain
These, our daily bread
We either choose to live in harmony
Or we each could wind up dead
