Egypt (Is Also A State Of Mind) Poem by Luke Easter

Egypt (Is Also A State Of Mind)

Egypt is not only a country on the map it’s a certain state of mind,
Once you’ve been led away why do you keep on looking behind?
Watching all the turmoil that plagues the area called the Middle East,
Is it any wonder why many individuals never have a sense of peace?

The bible is not another’s opinion but the word tried & proven true,
What you make happen for others God will make happen for you,
Are the thoughts, ideas and suggestions passing through your lips?
Encouraging others to fight the battle of faith or give up and quit?

It is Enron or those who are unscrupulously asking you to invest,
Like eating raw meat that will sicken anyone as we try and digest,
Who hasn’t heard the old saying, “you’re exactly what you eat, ”
Same for your mouth because “you will have what you speak, ”

Whatever happens in life try hard to never lose your cool,
Ecclesiastes 7: 9 states, “anger rests in the bosom of fools, ”
Proverbs 6: 6, “consider the ways and be wise like the ant, ”
If that insect could talk you'd never hear the words, “I can’t.”

The rest of the chapter deals with various pitfalls and calamities,
Even to the point where careful study will provide a remedy,
Verse 16 leads to the 7 things God considers an abomination,
These are listed to help you identify any problematic situation.

Here’s a story that’s sad and in a somber way just a little funny,
An 11 day journey to get to a land flowing with milk and honey,
However, through all the doubt, complaining, chaos, fear & tears,
Turned into a camping trip that ended up taking a total of 40 years.

There were some in the entourage, who simply refused to believe,
This was after all God had accomplished like parting the Red Sea,
From miracles in the land of Egypt there was so much that He did,
Two adults made it across, not Moses & Aaron just Joshua & Caleb.

A newspaper photo showed a woman bending over the hospital bed,
Of a man she’d never known before because her only child was dead,
Excited to hear the transplanted heartbeat from a precious loving one,
When God listens to your heart does He recognize the beat of His Son?

Can you even begin to imagine that from the original twelve tribes,
Ten of them were so afraid they actually couldn’t wait to run and hide,
Repeatedly being saved while told by Moses that God is on their side,
An eleven-day journey in the park turned into a deadly forty-year ride.

Yes, once you have been led out of any kind of negative wilderness,
Do not turn around to greet it like an old flame with a hug and a kiss,
If you have never seen the movie your bible has a copy of the script,
You’ll never make it to the promise land until you stop thinking Egypt.
