Elders Poem by David Thomas

You're supposed to be wiser than us
not necessarily smarter,
but definitely wiser.
so why is it
that when i need to know something important
all you can tell me is;
go check the internet
or google it
or why do i care?
why can't you just help me in my pursuit
for everlasting knowledge
that one day
i too can pass on.
no, no i guess you can't
seeing as you hold nothing even worthy
of being passed on-
you'll just yell
and be confused
and i'm sorry to say
that will never change.
